The Santa Cruz Linear Collider Retreat will take place on the campus of the University of California, Santa Cruz from Thursday-Saturday, June 27-29, 2002. The Thursday and Saturday plenary sessions will take place in the Performing Arts Complex (See Directions). The Friday parallel session meetings will take place in several rooms throughout Kresge College. Lunch will be provided for all registered participants in the Dining Center of Porter College.

Participants are encouraged to stay in the apartment facilities on campus, and will find it most convenient to do so. However, Conference Center rules require that participants staying on campus commit to a three-night (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday night) stay. A fourth night (Saturday night) is available upon request, at the additional daily rate of $91. Additionally, a fifth night (Sunday night) is available for those attending the Cornell Consortium Meeting.

For families, a limited number of private apartments are available at $241 per night, tax included. This rate includes three meals per day for one apartment resident. Other residents may buy meals at campus facilities on a cash basis. If interested, please contact Georgia Hamel via email or (831) 459-2635.

For those who don't want to sign up for three (or four) nights on campus, a limited number of rooms are available at a special conference rate at the Ocean Pacific Lodge (rooms are only being held until Wednesday, May 1st), near the municipal wharf and approximately four miles from central campus. Buses will run between the wharf area and central campus in the morning and evening.

For those who must drive, on-campus parking is available,but will be limited due to the large amount of construction taking place on campus. Parking permits are avaialble for a fee (see registration page), and will be given to you when you register ( 5/9 NOTE change to previously stated policy). Parking permits are also usually available at the main entrance gate to campus. However, the retreat is organized so that personal cars will not be needed, even for those choosing to stay off-campus.

Following are more specifics about the three registration options. NOTE ABOUT THE LATE REGISTRATION FEE: This applies only of you REGISTER after May 15. It does not apply if you register on or before May 15, but bring your payment with you when you come to the retreat.

THREE-NIGHT CAMPUS STAY: REGISTRATION FEE $450 ($500 AFTER MAY 15)

This package includes lodging for the nights of June 26 through June 28, with check-out on June 29, and all meals between dinner Wednesday, June 26 and lunch on Saturday, June 29, inclusive. Of the registration fee, $273 goes to the Conference Center to cover the cost of three days' lodging, breakfasts and lunches, and all applicable taxes. A reception dinner Wednesday night, the retreat banquet Thursday night, and a Friday night barbecue, are treated separately, but are nevertheless covered in the overall registration fee.

Participants will be housed in the separate bedrooms of multi-bedroom apartments located within Kresge College. Cooking facilities will be turned off for the summer, but refrigerators will be operating. Beds will be made and clean linens supplied before the day of arrival only.

FOUR-NIGHT CAMPUS STAY: REGISTRATION FEE $540 ($590 AFTER MAY 15)

This package includes everything in the three-night package, plus additional lodging for the night of June 29. Breakfast and lunch on June 30 are also included. Of the registraion fee, $364 goes to the Conference Center to cover four days' lodging, breakfasts and lunches, and all applicable taxes. Note: If you choose this option, and also plan to attend the University Linear Collider Consortium Meeting on Sunday, June 30th, please add $50 to your registration fee.

FIVE-NIGHT CAMPUS STAY: REGISTRATION FEE $680 ($730 AFTER MAY 15)

This package is intended for those attending the University Consortium for the Linear Collider meeting Sunday, June 30th. The extra registration fees include one extra night's lodging, food during the day Sunday, and facilities charges for the Sunday meeting. If you are staying off-campus, but plan to attend the Sunday meeting, please add $50 to the off-campus registration fee (see below).

OFF-CAMPUS STAY: REGISTRAION FEE $225 ($275 AFTER MAY 15)

A limited number of rooms are available at an affordable conference rate at the Ocean Pacific Lodge (rooms are only being held until Wednesday, May 1st.). Numerous other rooms, at market rate, and subject to availability (REGISTER PROMPTLY!) are available throughout town; please see our list of local hotels We will provide bus service to and from campus that is convenient to all downtown hotels (see Directions for pick-up locations). In addition, municipal buses run with some frequency between the Metro Center in downtown Santa Cruz (see map) and campus. Parking, although somewhat limited, is available on campus for a fee. Parking permits can be reserved when registering.

For people choosing to stay off campus, the registration fee includes lunch on three days (June 27-29), morning and evening bus service, the Thursday night banquet, and the Friday night barbecue. Refunds for missed meals will NOT be provided for participants who do not stay the entire time. Please add an additional $50 if you are also planning to attend the University Linear Collider Consortium Meeting on Sunday, June 30th.
