The
ALEPH
program at
SCIPP
is a chance for
those interested in high energy
particle physics to work at one of the best
experimental sites in the world, the LEP ring
at
CERN.
LEP is currently the highest energy
lepton collider in existence and the four
experiments surrounding the ring have produced
important
Electroweak
,
QCD
, and
Heavy Flavour
physics results since the first Z0 at LEP was
produced in 1989. Now after probing the
Z0
for 6 years LEP is moving on to higher
energies hoping to discover supersymmetry
and the Higgs. The ALEPH experiment
combines new technology with
well-studied standard ones in a well
organized and efficient way. Working at
ALEPH would allow interested physicists an
oppurtunity to be a part of this exciting
time in particle physics ... and maybe see
the first Higgs!!!! Take a look at the
people in the Santa Cruz group at ALEPH and
what they are doing now...
