Minutes of the Tracker Electronics Meeting Sept 11, 2000 Present: David, Robert, and Wilko, Hartmut Agenda: 1. Wilko: progress on pickup testing Wilko investigated the problem with the command pickup. He sends out a calibration strobe command so the GTFE will leave the clock on for 500 cycles. He then sends other commands during the 500 clock cycles to see what effect they have. Wilko reported the read event clearly dominates. Furthermore the problem stays within the layer that is being commanded. The pickup stays within the hybrid. Also, the pickup is very small if the read-event command is sent to a single GTFE64 chip. He will check what effect the silicon has on the noise verses lumped capacitance on the inputs. Wilko and company will prepare an uncoated hybrid for testing. Wilko and David will start the noise tests on Thursday. Ned: Ned stated that he is still concerned about noise pickup associated with the facing silicon plane. 2. Ned: progress on FIFO layout Ned stated that the FIFO work is in good shape. He has the ram array put together with the two output shift registers. He has done the LVS and DRC checks. Ned is continuing entering Tanner standard cells into ViewLogic. He stated that all cells are in microns, not lambdas. 3. Dave: SEU safe register flip flop David stated he has done nothing on the SEU cell yet. He asked for the SEU write-up. Ned offered to FAX it to him. Robert stated that we need this cell for the GTFE as well as the GTRC soon. David will provide the schematic and simulation. Ned will provide the standard cell layout. 4. Robert: schematic progress Robert stated that he will revise the command decoder and configuration register to incorporate the latest changes in the specifications. Robert stated that he does not have a lot of free time for this. 4. Dieter: Peregrine submission Dieter plans to submit the Peregrine design of the preamplifier by the end of September submission date. Robert stated that Abe will pay for this submission from some special funds for research into radiation-hard processes. 5. Robert: schedule for full chip submission, etc. Robert stated that he would like to submit the full chip prototype for the November 1 date. An October 1 submission is unlikely. 6. Dave or Jeff: GTRC progress, CAD tools Jeff needs to get a memory array from Tanner. Jeff thinks the design requirements are settling down. We are still in flux on the design tools. We do not have a current synthesis license. 7. A.O.B. David stated that he is looking into Polyfuses for the hybrid.
