Minutes
of the Tracker Electronics Meeting
February
5, 2001
Present:
Robert, David, Hartmut, Ned, Masa, Wilko, and Dieter
1. Reviews: Robert; Robert announced that the
Tracker PDR is May 30, 2001. The Tracker gets to be first.
2. HP 0.5um Test chip: Masa; Masa presented
plots of the shaper output of the five channels with 1fC and 1MIP input
signals. The signals looked OK for this signal input. The auto-reset circuit
only affects larger signals. Masa will try again with a 50 MIP input signal. Dieter
asked for the noise performance and discriminator thresholds to be scanned to
see what the offsets are. Robert asked again for the Viewlogic files so UCSC
can simulate the circuit as well. Dieter agreed to send them. Wilko also asked
for spice simulation of the latest chip shaper output amplitude verses signal
input so he can finalize the DAC requirements.
3. GTFE Layout: Ned; Ned stated he is making
good progress on the digital layout and will be ready for the pad frame and
analog channels from Dieter this Thursday. Dieter will deliver what he has when
Ned asks for it. Dieter will try to complete a few details he has time. Robert
stated that he would start Sergei on simulation.
4. MCM: David; Tung has spent about one week on
the layout. There is plenty more work. David stated that Tung usually spends
about 2 weeks on a layout of this size.
5. Flex cable: Robert; Robert stated that the Flex cable length is
a concern. Gwelen has located only one vender, Q-FLEX, that will quote on this
design. Gwelen also found a manufacturing process that allowed flex cables to
be spliced. Robert asked that we design both styles.
