Regular SCIPP Outreach Activities
Tesla Coil
The Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics' Outreach Program gets students electrified about learning physics using a
Tesla Coil which generates dazzling electrical arcs about 5 feet (1.5 meters) in length. You can have a Tesla Coil
Demonstration at your school to get your students charged up to learn about physics.

Teacher's Workshop
For the last few years we have held one-week summer workshops at UCSC to work with high school teachers on analysis
and understanding of scientific data with special emphasis on data taken by cosmic ray detectors provided by Quarknet.
The program is devoted to cosmic ray detection and measurement of the muon lifetime. In both 2007 and 2008 we had 7
attendees.
