SCIPP Summer Program for High School Student Interns

on the Univ. of California Santa Cruz Campus

2. Location: Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics Laboratories,

                        Rm 373 Nat Sci 2

3. Duration: 4 weeks,  June 24- July 21, 2007 (or part thereof)
4. Number of students hired: 4-8
5. Funded by Quarknet through Notre Dame University, Stipend $1,500 per student
6. Low-cost campus housing available through Student Housing
7. Activities:

Support Research in the SCIPP laboratories

Support development of Cosmic Ray Telescopes (CRTs)

Take data with CRTs and analyze them

8. Requirements:

H.S. Junior or younger at start of summer

Understanding of Physics Principles

Interest in Physics and Technology

Ability to work in a group

Ability to learn measurement and fabrication techniques

Ability to use simple computer programs (Excel. Word etc)
