FINAL EXAM (Thursday December 8, 2011)
Solutions to the final exam can be found on the Physics 116C website. Here are the relevant statistics. First, a histogram of the test scores is shown below:
Horizontal axis labels correspond to the midpoint value of a bin, which is 10 points wide. Here is the final exam statistical summary:
    exam mean: 50           exam median: 48           standard deviation 18           highest grade: 94           lowest grade: 19
Approximate grade equivalents of the test scores: A+ (92--100); A (83--91); A- (74--82); B+ (65--73); B (56--64); B- (47--55); C+ (38--46); C(29--37); D(20--28), F (0--19). Keep in mind that the grade equivalents apply only to this exam, and take into account the distribution of final exam scores. The distribution of the grade equivalents for the final exam is shown below.
