When you select the Tangent function, a short bar shows the slope of the line at the point closest to the mouse pointer. It is active when you move the mouse pointer over a graph. A helper object also displays the numerical slope at that point.

Select Tangent either by clicking the Tangent icon  on the toolbar or by selecting the Tangent option from the Analyze menu.
