In order to visualize the three dimensional shape of a shower, I have taken a snapshot of the shower at one instant in time and rotated it. Note that we have changed our observation point to be off to one side and slightly above the shower, and the color coding has changed. You can see that the majority of the particles are in a very flat disk with a few low energy stragglers. This "pancake" of particles moves through the atmosphere at nearly the speed of light as shown in the previous movies. Also note the predominance of gamma rays over electrons and positrons at Milagro's altitude.
