This animation shows a vertical 2 TeV gamma ray initiated EAS interacting with the Milagro Pond. We are viewing the pond from the side. The top line shows the surface of the pond, with the next two lines showing the layers of photodetectors. The purple line travels with the showerfront at the speed of light. Color coding is according to the particle type as explained in the first frame of the movie. Please note the formation of the very distinctive bowl and ring structure.
