Alex
Alex Condotti is currently an incoming junior at Santa
Cruz High School. His past accomplishments include competing in several school and county science fairs
in past years, and is interested in the fields of physics and engineering. Alex is also an avid runner,
competing in the California State Cross Country Championships every year hes been in high school.
Additionally, he is the Pacific Collegiate school varsity record holder in the 800 meter event.
Besides science and sports, Alex is interested in music and the outdoors. In the future, Alex wants

Akkshay Khoslaa
Akkshay Khoslaa is a leading student in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) from Washington State. Having lived a
year in Africa, he leverages his international experience
in STEM, leadership, and public speaking in order to contribute to the community. In 2012,
he founded the Washington Student Science Association (Non-Profit Organization) and
began leading large-scale efforts to create a better scientific community for students. Being President of his high school's Science Club and Math Club, he is
constantly pursuing his passions in physics and mathematics. This year, he decided to do so by participating in the SCIPP Quarknet Internship Program. He enjoyed his
experience at SCIPP and would reccommend the program to physics students who are interested in getting research experience. |

Duncan Wilmot
If I had to describe Duncan Wilmot with one word, I simply couldn't
because too many equally acceptable words to describe him would come to mind.
Intelligent, dedicated, innovative, and ridiculously good-looking to name just a
few. As a prospective theoretical physicist, Duncan is constantly trying to push the
boundaries of his knowledge, imagination, and innovation. His seemingly endless
supply of questions regarding the complex nature of the world, from the cosmic
universe, to the quantum one, can come off as overbearing, or sometimes even
annoying (to a select intolerant few). This, of course, never prevents him from
thinking up and asking new, equally extensive, questions.
Although Duncan strives to one day uncover some of the deep and elegant
truths held at the proverbial center of our universe, he also saves time for fun and
relaxation. Duncan feels pride in that fact that he allows him-self to take full
advantage of his teenage years, whether that means playing Water Polo, partying
with friends, or sleeping for 16 hours straight, while also maintaining a fiery passion
for science (mainly physics) and mathematics. He believes that this drive, combined
with his highly effective work ethic, will help him to accomplish his highest goals in
years to come. The Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics (SCIPP) / Quarknet
internship he has been undergoing during the summer of 2013 is a major step,
among many, towards eventually accomplishing those goals. With the help of
amazing institutions such as SCIPP to aid him along the way, there is no doubt that
he will reach his destination. |
