Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics / QuarkNet Summer High School Internship at UC Santa Cruz
High School Internship
For 4 weeks during the Summer, HS Students work with a HS Teacher Mentor and UC Professors and students on analysis and understanding of scientific data with special emphasis on data taken by cosmic ray detectors provided by QuarkNet. The program is devoted to cosmic ray detection and measurement of the muon lifetime.
High School Internship 2014: July 7 - August 1
During the Summer of 2014, up to 6 High School Internships will be available at SCIPP! Students will learn about Cosmic Rays, work on Cosmic Ray Muon Detectors, and participate in interactive lectures on cutting-edge topics in particle physics and cosmology by SCIPP scientists.
The 2014 Application period has now ended. Deadline to apply was April 7, 2014.
Program Logistics
The Summer Internship runs for four weeks, Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM. This is a day program and SCIPP does not provide housing for students. There is a stipend available for participation in the program. More details will be provided about the stipend to accepted students.
