The city of Santa Cruz is a summer tourist destination with high seasonal hotel rates.  Therefore, participants are strongly encouraged to stay in on-campus apartments.  Meeting registration includes all meals and coffee breaks, regardless of accommodation choice.  Please note that daily bussing will not be provided from area hotels.  See our Travel page for campus parking information.

On-Campus Housing

On-campus housing is available in shared apartments at Cowell College and College 9 (map).  Housing is available as a five-day package, with arrival on Monday afternoon, August 12 and departure on Saturday afternoon, August 17.  Housing is also available for an additional night on Saturday night with departure on Sunday, August 18. 

There are two housing types available. 

Single room option, 5-night package $418: A one-person bedroom in a shared apartment with a shared bathroom and kitchen.  Bed/bath linens will be provided and there will be a refrigerator available in each apartment.

Shared room option, 5-night package $353: A shared bedroom (two-twin beds) in a shared apartment with a shared bathroom and kitchen.  Bed/bath linens will be provided and there will be a refrigerator available in each apartment.

Check-in on Monday, August 12 will be available from 2-6, with late check-in until 9 p.m. available upon request nmoore@ucsc.edu.  The UCSC campus is a beautiful, wooded campus that can be difficult to navigate in the dark.  Please plan your travel to arrive in Santa Cruz during daylight hours.

Wired Ethernet connections are available in the apartments. Please bring an Ethernet cable.  Wireless is not available in campus apartments.  However, there will be social meeting rooms near each housing area with wireless available.  Wireless will also be available in the conference meeting rooms.  For more information regarding campus wireless, please see http://its.ucsc.edu/wireless/ .

There are many local area hotels including the following:

• Mission Inn –53 rooms, 3 miles from campus. Expected rate 100+/night
• Hampton Inn –46 rooms, 5 miles from campus. Expected rate 180+/night
• Hilton Scotts Valley –174 rooms, 11 miles from campus. Expected rate 200+/night
• Dream Inn –163 rooms, 4 miles from campus. Expected rate 300+/night
• Hotel Paradox - 164 rooms, 5 miles from campus. Expected rate 200+/night

Recreation Facilities

Conference participants will be able to use the UCSC recreation facilities, as available, during normal operating hours for a fee of $5/day.
