Intramurals Coed Softball 
Latest news The softball season ended abruptly and unexpectedly with a surprising 10--8 loss to Dance Biscuits in the first round of the playoffs. Despite the loss, which ended a 13 game winning streak, Re-Entry players can hold their heads high and celebrate two consecutive undefeated regular seasons and a fall championship. Not too shabby!
As a significant part of the team will be leaving Santa Cruz, I would like to single out the superb performance of our manager, Emily Cairns, whose presence will be sorely missed. It has been an honor and a privilege to play under her leadership and especially with such dedicated teammates---I salute you all and wish you the best in your future endeavors.

The next game will take place in October, 2009 when the fall coed
softball seaon begins. Stay tuned for further details coming
in September, 2009.
All winning streaks eventually end. Unfortunately, after 13
consecutive victories, Re-Entry's bats cooled off at an inopportune
time, thereby falling just short on the losing end of a 10--8
defeat at the hands of an inspired effort of Dance Biscuits.
Despite taking a quick 4--0 lead, Re-Entry was not able to hold on to
a four run (and later a three run lead). With the exception of
Tim, whose triple and homerun resulted in five RBIs, the Re-Entry bats
were quiet for the most part. Despite a few errors in the field, a
number of fielding gems kept the game from getting out of hand, and
Re-Entry clung to a two run lead entering the bottom of the 6th. But,
a four run outburst by Dance Biscuits gave them their first lead of
the game. That inning turned out to be decisive, as Re-Entry was
unable to recover in the top of the 7th inning.
As a result, it was an early and unexpected exit from the playoffs.
Although we were ultimately unsuccessful in our defense of the
fall championship, all in all it was a pretty successful academic year
in which Re-Entry won 13 games and lost only one (the latter by two runs).
The team should be proud of their accomplishments!

Monterey Bay to reach Field 2. Keep following the track as it turns,
and you will then end up at Field 3, which is the
furthest of the three softball fields from the Field House.
