Due to the forfeit in the semi-finals, Re-Entry faced off against the Mighty Shmucks in the Championship game. In the top of the first inning, the first Mighty Shmucks batter beat out a slow roller to the shortstop. However, the runner was erased on a very nice double play, as Howie fielded a ground ball just to the left of second base, tagged the base and threw to first for the second out of the inning. The third out quickly followed. But, the Re-Entry bats were cold, and despite two singles by Elijah and Clara, Re-Entry was not able to score.

The Mighty Shmucks then struck back with two four-run innings, and with the Re-Entry bats still cold, the score stood at 8--0 after 2 1/2 innings of play. At some point in the middle of the third inning, the game ball was switched to a more lively one. The Mighty Shmucks took advantage, when one of their hitters switched from batting right handed to batting left handed and then struck a long homerun to deep right center field, driving in the last three runs in the top of the third inning. Finally, in the bottom of the third inning, Re-Entry staged the first part of their comeback. After an overthrow by the Mighty Shmucks accounted for one run and a single by Rob drove in another, Elijah struck the big blow of the game with a towering shot way over the heads of the left and center fielders for a two run homerun. The lead had been cut in half, and Re-Entry now trailed 8--4.

The Re-Entry defense clamped down and held the Mighty Shmucks scoreless for the next two innings. The bottom of the fifth inning started auspiciously when Steve opened up the frame with a triple to deep right field. Steve just beat the throw to third base, but sadly overran the bag and was subsequently tagged out. Later, with two outs and runners on first and second, Rob unleashed a triple to deep right field. Steve was pinch running for him, and this time he made it safely to third base. Clara drove him in with a single to the third baseman, and then advanced to second on the overthrow. Elijah followed with an RBI single to short left field, but after a series of sloppy overthrows, managed to find his way home. Re-Entry had taken the lead at 9--8, having finally overcome the initial eight run deficit.

With darkness descending, the sixth inning was declared the last inning of the game. But the Mighty Shmucks fought back and pushed two runs across the plate. It might have been more, but with a runner on second, and a single to left field, Elijah attempted to cut down the runner trying to score. Taylor swooped in to catch the ball near the pitcher's mound and then threw to Jenn at home, who applied the tag and prevented the third run of the inning, earning the trio the defensive web gem of the game. Re-Entry was now down 10--9, and needed only one run to tie and two runs to win the Championship game. After two quick outs in the bottom of the final inning, Howie singled to right center field, and Jenn kept the inning alive with a short ball in front of home plate. With the tying and winning runs on base, Steve flied out to right-center field to end the game. Re-Entry was one run short of its goal, and its season was over.
